Learn to Needlepoint

So, you want to learn to needlepoint? Well, my friend, you’re in the right place. You see, I’ve been a stitcher for a reeaaalllly long time. My grandmother taught me how to do the continental tent stitch when I was nine years old – on a canvas that looked very much like the one in the picture above. I also owned a needlepoint shop for 14 years – and I have an online “learn to needlepoint” class called Needlepoint Made Easy.  🙂

Florentine Bauble is worked entirely in tent stitch.

It’s time to work the background of our lovely little Florentine Bauble by Kirk and Bradley Designs.

I’m having oodles of fun to stitching it – and it reaffirms what I already know (but sometimes forget!) – that working a canvas entirely in tent stitch is both relaxing and rewarding. (And it’s really good practice for perfecting your stitch tension, too!)????

And Voila! All done!

Well hello there!

Did you see last week’s blog post? If you didn’t, you might want to click here to read it first. And if you did read it, well – we’ll just go ahead and dive right into how to stitch those weird little shapes on your needlepoint canvases in diagonal tent stitch/basketweave.

Sound good? Terrific… let’s get started!
